Masthead

The people who report and edit Bank Season, how the desks are organised, and who answers for what appears on the site.

Last updated September 13, 2026

Bank Season is written by a staff of eight across four desks. Everyone on the masthead reports and writes; there is no layer of editors who only edit. The structure is deliberately flat, because a small newsroom moves faster when the person who knows the subject is also the person who files.

Every article carries a named byline, the author's standing credential, a publication timestamp and, where applicable, an update timestamp. Nothing is published under a house byline or an invented staff name.

Reporting lines

Mara Ellison is the senior editor on the site and holds final say on what runs on the front page and on any story that touches live market prices. Soren Vinter reports to her on European coverage. Daniel Okonjo runs macro and policy and edits Clara Nwosu. Priya Raghunathan runs companies and technology and edits Julian Reyes. Naomi Feld files to Ellison on market structure stories and to Raghunathan on anything with a company balance sheet in it.

  • Markets desk: Mara Ellison (editor), Soren Vinter.
  • Macro and policy desk: Daniel Okonjo (editor), Clara Nwosu.
  • Companies and technology desk: Priya Raghunathan (editor), Julian Reyes.
  • Wealth and digital assets: Naomi Feld, edited by Ellison or Raghunathan depending on the story.
  • Opinion: Arthur Benn writes the column and is edited by Ellison. He holds no line management role.

How a story gets edited

Every piece is read by at least one editor who did not write it. Stories that name an issuer, quote a source, or carry a number that a reader could trade on get a second read focused only on sourcing and arithmetic. Data heavy pieces are checked against the underlying series before they publish, not after a reader complains.

Opinion is edited for accuracy and for argument, never for whether the desk agrees with it. Arthur Benn's column runs without sign off from the markets desk, and the desk is free to report against it the following week.

Contributors

Outside contributors appear only in Opinion, always under their own name, always with their current employment and any position relevant to the subject disclosed in the footer of the piece. We do not accept contributions from people who will not be named, and we do not run pieces placed by a communications agency on behalf of a client.
