Bank Season is a publication, not a data business. The public copy sells access to reporting and nothing else, and this page is the specific version of that claim.

What is collected

Page analytics, when analytics is switched on. The site uses Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation, with Google advertising signals and ad personalisation both disabled. That means the measurement tells us which pages were read and roughly where from. It is not used to build an advertising profile of a reader, and it is not shared with an ad platform.

Do Not Track is honoured. If a browser sends the Do Not Track signal, no analytics event fires at all, which means the reader is not counted. Analytics tools do not generally do this on their own, so it is an explicit check made before the first event. Our traffic numbers are understated as a result, which is the correct trade for a publication.

What is not collected

• No advertising pixels, no retargeting tags, no data brokers, no third party trackers of any kind. A build gate fails if any third party script appears beyond the two Google analytics hosts, so this cannot change quietly.
• No session recording and no heatmaps. Nobody replays what a reader did on a page.
• No account, so no password, and no profile attached to reading history.
• No sale or sharing of reader data. There is nothing to sell.

Cookies

Analytics sets cookies when it is enabled. Nothing else on the site sets a cookie. There is no advertising cookie, no consent cookie and no preference cookie, because there is nothing for one to remember.

The newsletter form

The signup form on this build does not submit anywhere. No address is transmitted and none is stored, which is stated next to the form itself. If that changes, this page changes with it before the form does.

Photographs

Pictures are Creative Commons or public domain, and the credit line under each one links to the photographer and to the licence. Those links point at Wikimedia Commons and at creativecommons.org, and following one is a visit to those sites under their own terms.

Being counted out

Turn on Do Not Track in the browser and no event fires. A content blocker that blocks Google Analytics has the same effect, and nothing on the site is degraded by blocking it. There is no wall, no nag and no detection.
